Wrenn Takes Six At Hoosier Park
Veteran driver Peter Wrenn put on a clinic at Hoosier Park on Tuesday, winning six times on the 13-race program.
Wrenn was awarded the victory in Tuesday’s feature race – the $25,000 Invitational Pace – with Biletnikoff. The pacer had his number lifted from second to first as a result of a disqualification of the original winner, Rocket Fuel.
“This is a really nice horse,” said Wrenn. “He’s a legitimate Invitational pacer, and raced really well tonight even off a month layoff. He didn’t have the smoothest of trips tonight, but it was no total surprise he raced well. I used to train him and we sold him last fall. He’s raced well for every trainer that has ever had him.”
Biletnikoff, owned by Markus Ernst of Orchard Lake, MI, increased his career bankroll to more than $357,000 and earned his 24th career win. It was the third win in six starts for 2009 for the five-year-old Keystone Raider gelding trained by Paul Kennedy Jr.
Wrenn also clicked with Forever Nugget (1:55.3), Sweetsgetintheway (1:58.3), Dangerous Tide (1:58.2), Cog Hill (1:54.1) and Infinite Justice (1:53). The productive night lifted his 2009 win total to 164, while his lifetime total climbed to 7,811.
