Rose Run Fastball Perfect At Pocono
Just in time for the start of the baseball season, Rose Run Fastball shook off the breaking problem that doomed his last start and captured the featured $25,000 Open trot on Tuesday night at Pocono Downs.
Just four nights earlier at Yonkers, Rose Run Fastball broke stride in an Open Handicap trot to cough up a late lead. This time out, with Tim Tetrick in the bike for trainer Sherif Cunmulaj, the eight-year-old gelding by Armbro Laser worked out a pocket trip behind 6-5 favourite Lolique.
In the stretch, Rose Run Fastball pulled the pocket and easily sped by to win going away by just over three lengths in a time of 1:55. Sauce Two K came on to finish second while Lolique settled for third.
Rose Run Fastball, a 2-1 second choice, won for the third time in 12 races this year and for the 29th time in his career. Owned by Ameer Najor of Franklinville, NJ, the gelding pushed his career earnings to just shy of $250,000 with the win.
