Malone New CPMA Executive

It has been officially announced that Sean Malone has been appointed to the position of executive director, Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency, effective April 1, 2009

.

Since joining the public service in 1997, Malone has acquired a wide variety of experience including developing tax policy in both Canada and Australia as a tax policy officer in the Department of Finance, promoting investment into the Canadian agri-food sector as the director of the AAFC Investment Secretariat and acting for nearly two years as the AAFC Departmental Liaison in the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food’s Office.

Malone’s most recent job is director of the AAFC Financial Guarantees Programs Division where he was responsible for the operation of three financial guarantees programs which the Government of Canada makes available to Canadian agricultural producers. Prior to joining the Public Service, Malone practiced law for five years with a major Ottawa law firm.

After 15 months as executive director of the CPMA, Chantale Courcy has accepted a regional director general position with the Public Service Commission in Vancouver. Courcy made significant efforts in finalizing the CPMA’s comprehensive Regulatory Framework review, formalizing federal/provincial relations and continued consultation with the industry, and establishing new initiatives within the Agency.
