Getting “Concerned” Over Dresden
Ontario Harness Horse Association General Manager Brian Tropea has said that OHHA is “concerned” about the fact that the Ontario Racing Commission has yet to issue an operator’s licence for the 2015 season of live racing at Dresden Raceway.
Tropea’s comments have come via an article on the situation by the Chatham Daily News which explains that the track is supposed to be racing at the end of May.
“I've been led to believe things are going to get worked out, but we're getting to the end of March now,” Tropea was quoted as saying.
The report has also quoted Dresden Agricultural Society President Lucille Laprise as saying that the DAS is “hoping that everything is going to be favourable” in terms of being granted an operator’s licence to conduct live racing at the track this year.
The ORC’s manager of communications, Ray Kahnert, was quoted in the article as saying “There are no updates to provide at this time, other than to say a decision on the status of the application will be made in a timely way prior to the proposed start of racing at Dresden.”
The Dresden Agricultural Society has made mainstream news over the past few months for multiple reasons, most notably missing funds and issues with the board of directors.
