Equine Herpes Claims Michigan Horse
It has been reported that a horse in Michigan had to be euthanized this past weekend after it was determined that it was infected with equine herpes (EHV-1).
News of the euthanization comes courtesy of a report by FOX 17 which states that the horse was a barrel-racing horse and that the Michigan Department of Agriculture believes the case was an isolated incident.
The article explains that the occurrence was the first time this year that the State of Michigan has seen a EHV-1 positive. Also, the occurrence makes Michigan the sixth state in the U.S. to have an equine die due to the virus.
