Three-year-old pacing filly Velocity Lana lived up to her name with a speedy performance that's placed her as the fastest filly in North America thus far in 2015.

On Thursday night at Woodbine Racetrack, Velocity Lana and driver Jonathan Drury made every call a winning one, carving out fractions of :26.4, 56.3 and 1:25.2 before punctuating the mile with a sharp :27.3 final panel to trip the timer in a lifetime best 1:53.

The mile time is two-fifths of a second faster than pacing fillies Fashion Rocker and Hollyrocker, who had each paced in 1:53.2 at The Meadowlands earlier this year.

Christopher Brown trains Velocity Lana (Arts Chip - U Betican B B), a homebred owned by Velocity Standardbreds of Lebanon, Ohio. She's won two of her three starts since shipping north from Indiana.

Velocity Lana was the top horse on a 3-4-2-5-10 Jackpot Hi-5 ticket that paid $1,612.90 for a $1 bet, held by more than one person. Thus, the jackpot carryover going into Friday's card sits at $575,858.19.
