Reports from New Jersey state that trainer Karen Garland suffered serious injuries as a result of a head-on collision in Freehold Township on Friday afternoon

The Asbury Park Press stated that Garland was transported to the trauma unit of the Jersey Shore University Medical Center after a driver drifted into Garland's oncoming lane.

Garland, 44, has 686 lifetime training wins and over $8.8 million in purses. She is the partner of driver Steve Smith.
