Jockey Suspended For Twitter Use
It has been reported that a jockey has been banned from riding for one month due to using Twitter during a race meet.
According to an article by the BBC, the Japan Racing Association has handed French rider Christophe Lemaire the suspension for utilizing the massively-popular social media outlet while in the midst of a race meet.
The report states that Lemaire was set to make his riding debut at the Hashin racecourse in Japan and he had not switched off his phone after having already registered into the jockey’s quarters.
The BBC article has cited a JRA official’s representative as saying that the situation broke the association’s rules in relation to the integrity of racing.
