Condren Comes Home
After a few months recharging his batteries, working on his golf game and his tan in Florida, driving legend Steve Condren will be back in the bike at Woodbine
Racetrack starting this Saturday.
Condren, one of the few reinsmen that can boast of being in harness racing's $100 million drivers' club, is looking forward to the 2009 season and being back on board a few of last year's top rookies.
"Getting up behind Nebupanezzar and Windsong Soprano again will be exciting," a flip-flop sporting Condren told Trot Insider. "I've sat behind of few of Rene Laarman's horses while down here but I'm ready to come back."
Despite a reduced driving schedule, Condren still managed to bank over $3.92 million in purses on Canadian soil in 2008, putting him just shy of the tenth highest earner, Brad Forward.
With 28 straight seasons of banking more than $1 million in purses, Condren ranks just behind John Campbell and Dave Magee -- each with 30 -- in that category.
