Wagga Hosts World's Best Drivers
The third leg of the World Driving Championship is now complete. Seven races were contested at Wagga Wagga and when the dust had settled, New Zealand's Dexter Dunn was at the top of the standings with 111 points.
Dunn was on fire tonight, sweeping the first three races of this WDC leg. Dunn teamed up for wins with Miss Ponder in the first heat, The Baggy Green in heat two and Shes A Jackson in the third heat.
"This feels great," said Dunn, "My confidence was really down after Newcastle so this really helps!
"You never know how it's going to go. I'm having a great night... in the 2011 Championship I had one win in 20 races."
Jody Jamieson didn't have any luck in the first three heats, finishing 10th, 8th and 9th, but managed to notch his first WDC win in the fourth heat with Justasdangerous. He finished 10th, 5th and 6th in the three other heats.
"It feels good," said Jamieson after his first WDC win. "All of the horses I've driven have been competitive but I've either had bad racing luck or I've done something wrong. I want to thank all of the horsepeople in New South Wales for hosting us, entering their horses and giving us a great time."
Tim Tetrick posted back to back victories in heats five and six with Weliveinhope and Glenburne Addy.
"This is a very strong and competitive field of drivers and they're a good group of guys," said Tetrick.
France's Tony De Beller scored his second WDC victory in the seventh and final heat with Harlequin Bromac NZ.
