Red Shores Barns Praised

Veterinarian Dr. Colleen Dickie, head of the Prince Edward Island Standardbred Horse Owners Association, has given praise to the new barns at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park, stating that they have also helped the racehorses that are stable there stay sounder.

Dr. Dickie’s comments have come via a report by the CBC in which she states that the flooring in the stalls is making a big difference.

She was also cited as saying that ventilation in the new barns is helping to reduce the cases of inflammatory airway disease in the horses.

"Their horses actually seem sounder," she was quoted as saying in the article. "They don't necessarily have as many lameness issues as they do and one of the reasons for that is the flooring in the stalls."
