Preferred To Highlight Dover Thursday

Dover Downs’ first $27,500 Preferred Pace of 2015 will be the feature race on the Delaware track’s Thursday, February 5 live program.

First-race post time is 4:30 p.m.

Two of the six starters scheduled to race in the Preferred Pace will enter the dash of impressive wins last time out. Ron Pierce put Kovach Stables’ Feel Like A Fool on the lead on the way to a 1:51.1 conquest, while Corey Callahan took control after the opening quarter guiding Beavercreek Artist, a winner of three of his previous four, home first for Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta.

The rest of the field is made up by some of the top Delaware Special regulars. Owner, trainer, driver Daryl Bier’s Bandolito will start from the rail. Reg Hazzard and Legacy Racing’s Papa Ray, with Eddie Davis Jr., is always dangerous. Ron Pierce will drive the sharp Mustang Art, owned by Max Walton and Greg Papaleo, while George Dennis will pilot Joan Dalphon and Elanor Laws’ Don’t Ya Know.

Three winners last start lead the $15,500 Open Pace sub-feature on the tough undercard. Howard Taylor’s Delaware Hanover (to be driven by Callahan) was the fastest, chalking up a 1:50.1 victory. Janet Hudson and Joann King’s Little Ben (Trace Tetrick) also was a wire-to-wire winner in 1:51.3. Tom Lazzaro’s Contraband Hanover (Allan Davis) scored in 1:52.2.

First-race post time at Dover Monday through Thursday is 4:30 p.m. There is no live racing Fridays and Saturdays. Sunday’s first-race post time is 5:30 p.m.
