‘Admiral’ Romps In Fraser Open
Blue Star Admiral and trainer/driver John Chappell lowered the boom on the foes they faced in Sunday’s $10,500 Open Pace at Fraser Downs.
Sent off as the second choice in the wagering, Blue Star Admiral got away third from his pole position perch while Cowboy Caper took charge and led the field through an opening quarter clocked in :26.3. He was still in command at the half in :56, but Blue Star Admiral made a first-over bid in the backstretch and powered his way to the lead at the three-quarter pole in 1:24.4. A :28.1 closing quarter helped the pacer win by 3-1/2 lengths over Gotta Have Nukes in 1:53. Beren Hanover was third.
The five-year-old son of Camystic-Movin Uptown improved this year’s record to 2-1-0 from three starts while pushing his lifetime earnings to $174,888. The 12-time winner is owned by William and Dianne Neish of High River, Alberta.
