Delaware Special To Bandolito
Bandolito took on six foes in Thursday’s $25,000 Delaware Special at Dover Downs, and he dug in deep to post a 1:50.1 score for owner/trainer/driver Daryl Bier.
The speedball was in no hurry in the early going in his quest to repeat, but that wasn’t the case for Dont Ya Know. That foe fired to the front and supplied the field with fractions of :25.4, :53.2 and 1:21.4 before giving way. Bandolito, who got away fifth and remained in that position through those panels, made a bold move at the three-quarter pole before using a :28.1 closing quarter to win by a neck over Nova Artist. Dont Ya Know held on for the show dough.
The five-year-old son of Ponder-Sodys Home Brew is now 2-for-3 this season. The 16-time winner, who took a mark of 1:48 at Dover Downs during last year’s four-year-old campaign, surpassed $300,000 in career earnings with the victory.
