Shepherd Wins Six Races At Flamboro
Flamboro Downs' defending driving champion Robert Shepherd gave his early season win count a boost, earning victories in half a dozen races during the Saturday night harness racing card.
Shepherd began by winning the first four races with maiden-breaker Waiting On No One ($3.60) for trainer Mitch Tierney, the streaking pacer-turned-trotter Pureform Olympia ($3) for Gord Remmen, a 15-3/4 length winner Tomei Seelster ($2.40) for James Stewart and Michael Ellis' 11-year-old mare Premier Elecktrah ($13.50).
He later swept the final two dashes with the Kevin Austin-trained Whipperosa ($6.70) and Preferred 3 Trot winner Excellence ($3.80) for Ian Downey.
Last year, Shepherd led all drivers for wins (183) and earnings ($879,076) at the half-mile track in Dundas, Ont. Shepherd reclaimed the lead in the standings for 2015 with his six-win performance.
