Up To 15 Horses Perish In Barn Fire
Officials fear that up to 15 horses have perished in a fast-moving barn fire that occurred Thursday, January 8.
A report by the Akron Beacon Journal states that firefighters arrived at the Mindale Farm on East Howe Road in Tallmadge, Ohio to find a 21,000 square foot stable fully engulfed in flames.
The article states that firefighters from Brimfield and Suffield townships assisted Tallmadge firefighters, and that crews were able to confine the fire to a single structure.
It is suspected that a space heater that was in use on the stable could be the cause of the blaze, but fire officials stated that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the connections of the horses that lost their lives in the blaze.
