Randys Plan From Last To First
You only get one chance to make a first impression, and sophomore pacer Randys Plan left a lasting impression on anyone that caught his career debut – or bet on him in that assignment - during Monday evening’s 11-race program at Woodbine Racetrack.
The three-year-old son of Art Official-Plan On It swept past nine foes in the final quarter of his first start under the lights, and he did so as a 39-1 outsider.
Randys Plan got away tenth from his Post 8 perch on the starting gate, and he remained last through the half and three-quarter junctures of the $14,000 overnight event. Jody Jamieson angled the gelding in a wide path coming out of the final turn, however, and a :27.2 closing quarter – the bullet final panel on the card – to win by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:56.4.
Trainer Don Lindsey shares ownership on the pacer with Paul Kleinpaste of Orangeville, Ontario and Will Alempijevic of Portland, Oregon. He was $25,000 purchase from the 2013 Lexington Select Yearling Sale.
