Six Figure Jackpot Hit With $33 Ticket
For the second time in less than three weeks, a bettor took down Gulfstream Park's 20-cent Rainbow 6 for six figures by spending less than $35 on a ticket.
Saturday's winner, located in Portland, Oregon, took down the $317,161.44 Rainbow 6 jackpot with a ticket costing only $33.60.
On Dec. 19, a bettor in New York won $242,469.46 with a ticket costing only $12.80.
The ticket of Saturday's winner was: 8/9/9,11/1,5,9/3,5,7,9/3,7-12.
Incredibly, the bettor singled the winner of the sixth race, Noble Prince, who paid $98.20. Going into Saturday's 11th and final race, the winning bettor had six of the seven possible winning combinations on his ticket. The other winners in the Rainbow 6 sequence were Night Prowler ($7), Barbados ($14.60), Devine Aida ($9.40), Bluegrass Singer ($6.40) and Trini Boss ($26).
The Rainbow 6 generated an all-time Pick 6 payoff last May when a $6.6 million jackpot was paid out to a Palm Beach bettor.
The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 per cent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 per cent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
Along with Sunday's guaranteed pool in the Rainbow 6, the Late Pick 4 will have a guaranteed pool of $100,000 and the Pick 5 will have a guaranteed pool of $50,000.
