Redwood Unseated In Northlands Incident
Driver Tyler Redwood avoided serious injury when he was unseated during a minor accident in Wednesday night's sixth race at Northlands Park.
Charging late down the stretch from the backfield aboard Fly On The Wall, Redwood was unseated during an incident caused by Theconnorman and Brandon Campbell. Campbell reportedly dropped a line and Theconnorman ran up on the wheel of Medicine Hat and then veered out into Fly On The Wall, launching Redwood from his sulky.
Medicine Hat and Jamie Gray went on to win the race over Big Otts Party and Lucky Stryker with Theconnorman disqualified after finishing fourth for causing the interference.
Redwood confirmed with Trot Insider that he was doing okay after the race and resumed his driving duties on the New Year's Eve card.
"I'm okay, banged up but not broken as we horsemen say," he said, adding that the horses were not injured during the incident.
Redwood's night was not a complete "downer" as he was victorious in the fourth race with his own trainee Kumu. Philip Giesbrecht drove four winners on the 10-race card. Gray and Bill Tainsh Jr. had driving doubles while trainers Joe Ratchford and Glenn Lutz each had a pair of wins as well.
