Racing Returns To Dover Sunday

Following the annual Christmas Holiday Break, Dover Downs returns to five days a week racing on Sunday, Dec. 28 with a nine-horse line-up for the $15,000 Male Claiming pace feature. Post time is 5:30 p.m.

Meet leading driver Corey Callahan drives Stephanie Cassell’s McMurray Hanover, who has been in-the-money in all but one of his five local starts. Middle Aged Crazy, racing for O’Toole, the Somones and trainer Dave McCaffrey, will be driven by Tony Morgan. Stubbs Hanover, owned and driven by Trace Tetrick will start from post nine in the second tier. Ron Davis-owned and trained Dancing Rusty leaves from the rail while Jeff Clark and Vern Cannon’s Chief Cruiser and Jonathan Roberts is alongside. Island Lexus makes his first start for Robbins Next Farm after being claimed from his last start. Vic Kirby will drive. The rest of the field includes Louie Pagliarani and Legacy Racing’s Dinas Gamble from post eight with Allan Davis, Crissman Inc. and Rich Zulick’s Ooh Dear Sam in the hands of Daryl Bier, and To the Moon & Back’s Odds On Demi-Queue and Roger Plante.

Dover Downs races Sundays at 5:30 p.m. and weekdays, Monday through Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m., but this week there is no live racing on Wednesday, Dec. 31, New Years Eve. Racing resumes on Thursday, Jan. 1 at 4:30 p.m.

There is no charge for parking or admission at Dover Downs. Daily simulcasting of harness and thoroughbred racing daily begins 12 Noon until 12 Midnight. For those planning to watch racing and dine in the Winner’s Circle Restaurant, reservations are suggested. Call 302-674-4600.
