Lizard King Rules At Fraser
After not racing in the top class at Fraser Downs for nearly two years, Lizard King won his first Open Pace at Fraser Downs on Sunday afternoon.
Driver Jim Marino tucked Lizard King into third while favoured Outlaw Beacon (Bill Davis) carved out fractions of :26, :57, 1:24.3. Gable Blue Chip (Serge Masse) sat the pocket throughout the mile, and pulled the pocket in the stretch for a run at the pacesetter. Marino had room to angle Lizard King outside into the three-path, and his horse was loaded with pace. Lizard King's late kick was best of all, hitting the wire a neck in front of Gable Blue Chip in 1:53.3. Outlaw Beacon completed the triactor.
Bill Boden owns Lizard King, a six-year-old Rocknroll Hanover gelding out of Lonesome Day. It was his ninth lifetime win, lifting his career bankroll to more than $210,000.
Winning trainer Dave Hudon notched three victories on the day. Earlier in the card, the Hudon Stable connected with Excessive in Race 9 and Four Diamonds in Race 5.
