Tentative Date For NY Licence Decision
New York State Gaming Commission Executive Director Robert Williams has divulged the tentative date for when the commission will announce its decision regarding upstate casino expansion.
According to a report by the Times Union, Williams has stated that the decision is tentatively scheduled to be announced on Wednesday, December 17.
The article explains that 16 applications have been submitted in an effort to be awarded a gaming licence. The report also explains that a maximum of four licences will be awarded. The three upstate zones that have been laid out for gaming expansion are the eastern Southern Tier, the Capital Region, and the Hudson Valley / Catskills.
Tioga Downs, located in Nichols, is looking to be awarded a licence in the Southern Tier, while the Capital View Casino and Resort, which is partially backed by Saratoga Harness Racing Inc., is vying for a licence to operate in the Capital Region.
