New Wagering Formats At Pompano

Officials with Pompano Park have announced that the track will be introducing some new wagering formats beginning with this evening’s (Monday, November 10) program of live racing.

The popular Pick-5 will return to the south Florida oval and will start in Race 2. The wager will carry a nightly guaranteed pool of $2,500.

The track’s director of racing, Brett Revington, said, "This wager was a hit with our fans when it was first introduced and the guarantee should further enhance the popularity of that particular offering."

The track has also announced a new minimum wager – 50 cents – for the Pick-4, which covers races five through eight on live race nights.

Revington continued, "Many our fans have been asking about this reduction from the $1 minimum, so we decided to follow their suggestion. Hopefully, this, along with our nightly guaranteed pool of $5,000 and a very fan-friendly 12 per cent takeout, will prove fruitful to our growing fan base.

"These new formats should also be received well by fans all across North America since TVG will be carrying our entire racing program on Monday night."

The feature race on Pompano’s Monday card is a $10,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace, which has been carded as Race 8. Winbak Heavenly and Mach Me Not are set to renew their budding rivalry and several northern invaders are set to join the fray, as well.

Last week, Mach Me Not got a ‘head start’ on Winbak Heavenly around the final turn and went on to score a win in 1:54, thereby interrupting Winbak Heavenly's three-race winning streak.

This week, four invaders – Elleofnxample, Godiva Seelster, Arodasi and Pertty Music – join the group, along with recent winners Just A Bee and Market Dynamics.

Elleofnxample and Arodasi come from the powerful Joe Pavia Jr. Stable, the former with a 1:49.2 mark this year and the latter being no stranger to the Pompano winner's circle.

"These mares have two different racing styles," Pavia related, "Elleofnxample can grind a long way while Arodasi can really turn on the afterburners late in a mile."

The four-year-old Godiva Seelster looks to go over the $100,000 mark in lifetime bounty tonight. The consistent mare is having her best year with $55,670 on her 2014 card.

Pertty Music has been tangling with the best mares on the Indiana circuit and recently took a mark of 1:51 at Hoosier Park.

Post time for tonight's opener is 7:30 p.m.
