Rock Allstar Victorious In Fraser Open
Favourite Rock Allstar was first off the gate and first across the wire in a dominant Open Pace victory on Sunday afternoon at Fraser Downs.
A 1:54 winner in his last Open start on a sloppy track Oct. 17 with a matching qualifying mile last week, Rock Allstar was sent postward as the 3-2 favourite and lived up to expectations in Sunday's $10,500 feature race. He paid $5.10 to win.
Driver Brandon Campbell put the seven-year-old gelding on the lead and he never looked back, pacing through panels of :28.1, :58.2 and 1:26.2 en route to the victory in 1:54.4. Rock Allstar has now won four of his six Open starts at the current Fraser Downs meet.
Richard Lancaster trains the son of Rocknroll Hanover for the Westridge Stable of Langley, B.C. and Wild Dunes Stables of Delta, B.C.
Pocket-sitter Cantbeatacheetah and Jim Marino held off Gable Blue Chip and John Chappell for second-place honours one and a half lengths behind the winner while first over challenger Cowboy Caper and Scott Knight finished three lengths back in fourth.
The victory was Rock Allstar's 32nd lifetime and lifted his bankroll to $164,619.
