Update On Nova Scotia Audit
Nova Scotia Agriculture Minister Keith Colwell has said that it will take months until the audit of the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition is completed.
A report by The Chronicle Herald has quoted Colwell as saying that the government is “happy” with the work that has gone into the audit so far, but that it is going to take anywhere from three to six months before the audit will be completed.
“(Auditors have) done a lot of work, but they are going back to see if some of their suggestions have been put in place,” the article quoted Colwell as saying yesterday. “We have to get all that done first before we get the final report from them.”
In January of this year, Nova Scotia’s Department of Agriculture announced that it would be hiring a firm to undertake a financial audit of the NSPE Commission. “An audit will help the commission's new board of directors get a clear understanding of its current finances and help them chart a path to a sustainable future,” Colwell was quoted as saying at the time.
