Seven Straight For Front Page Star
Front Page Star certainly deserves front page coverage, as the winningest horse at Pompano Park in 2009
. On Monday evening he posted his seventh straight win over the Florida oval.
Driven by Anthony Napolitano, Front Page Star used an off-the-pace approach to win in a time of 1:53.2 over Buttler and Leutenant General.
It was a career-best clocking for the nine-year-old son of Stubby B, who was victorious again despite being asked to move up in class. It was the seventh win of the season in
in eight starts this year for the gelding, who is trained by Paul Holzman. Holzman’s wife, Mary, holds the papers on the pacer.
Blessed Victory made it two straight in the $16,000 Open Handicap Trot for driver Dan Clements. The gelding, who stopped the clock in 1:55, defeated Slave Dream and Rate Exchange.
It was a lifetime mark and the fifth win in nine starts this year for the five-year-old son of Conway Hall, who is trained by Bill Gallagher.
