Indiana Sires Stakes Finals Set

The 2014 Indiana Sires Stakes program will culminate at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino on Saturday, October 18 with the $200,000 Indiana Sires Stakes Super Finals.

The 14-race card will showcase the best trotters and pacers in the state of Indiana and provide an exciting conclusion to the 2014 stakes season.

With purses in excess of $1.8 million, the Indiana Sires Stakes Super night will be one of the richest nights offered in the history of the Indiana Sires Stakes program and will feature eight $200,000 finals. The two and three-year-olds competing in the Super Finals have accumulated points throughout the season, based on performance in the previous finals, and the top point earners will return to seek ultimate glory in the $200,000 finals.

With the fields now established, the 14-race card will be a star-studded program with the top contenders from each division set to battle it out. Complementing the program will be four divisions for the aged competitors carrying a purse of $70,000 with the exception of the aged mare pace which will offer a purse of $50,000.

After re-establishing the overall track record earlier in the season with a 1:47.2 score by Sweet Lou in the $250,000 Dan Patch Invitational, Hoosier Park has been the host of impressive stakes action all season. Revamped for the 2014 season, the Indiana Sires Stakes program has showcased the best horses in the state throughout the season. The divisional standouts have not only taken the Hoosier state by storm, but have also made a splash on the national scene this season as well.

The 2014 Jugette winner, Colors A Virgin, will look to keep her winning streak intact from Post 8 in the $200,000 Indiana Sires Stakes Super Final for three-year-old pacing fillies. With regular driver Trace Tetrick at the lines, the sophomore filly is currently riding a four-race win streak and has been enlisted as the 7-5 morning line choice.

Fresh off his win in a $218,300 division of the Tattersalls Pace at the Red Mile, Always B Miki will return to Hoosier Park’s seven-eighths mile oval seeking his third win in Indiana Sires Stakes finals action this season. With driver Peter Wrenn at the lines for trainer Joe Holloway, Always B Miki currently holds the Hoosier Park track record for three-year-old pacing colts with a 1:48.4 score earlier in the season.

Freshman standout Freaky Feet Pete will look to continue his dominance in the two-year-old pacing colt ranks from Post 10 in the $200,000 Indiana Sires Stakes Super Final. The son of Rockin Image-Skyway Lori not only holds the track record at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino for two-year-old pacing colts with his 1:50.4 mark, but was also a national season’s leader earlier in the season.

In a continued partnership with Hoosier Park, HRTV, The Network for Horse Sports, will provide exclusive coverage for all of the racing action on Saturday at Hoosier Park. HRTV’s on-air personality Peter Lurie will be on property to provide racing fans with exclusive coverage of all the festivities happening on and off the racetrack. Racing fans can also catch exclusive interviews from drivers and trainers racing at Hoosier Park on the HRTV programming.

In addition to all of the exciting races on the track, there will be a multitude of activities for racing fans to enjoy off the track as well. Hoosier Park, in conjunction with The Anderson Center for the Arts, will play host to Oktoberfest, a German themed night at the races. Starting at 5 p.m. in The Yard, guests can enjoy German-style eats and treats, outdoor activities, arts & crafts booths, and a Biergarten featuring seasonal brews.

The first race will line up behind the gate at 5:15 p.m. The live racing schedule at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino will follow a Tuesday through Saturday schedule and be conducted through November 15.
