Better Caviar Cruises At The Meadows
Parked the opening quarter before making the lead, Better Caviar still was much the best as he rolled to victory in Tuesday’s $18,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life Handicap Trot at The Meadows.
Under Dan Rawlings’ handling, Better Caviar fought off a determined first-over challenge from Tamarind and scored in 1:54 over pocket-sitting Redder Than Red. The game Tamarind earned show.
Dave Wade trains the six-year-old son of SJs Caviar-Better Credit, who extended his career bankroll to $128,085, and owns with Gerald Brittingham, Kelley Rogers and William Peel III.
Dave Palone piloted four winners on the 15-race card.
The Meadows will offer a $20,000-guaranteed pool for Wednesday’s Pick 5 wager as part of the United States Trotting Association's Strategic Wagering Initiative. The Meadows added the “instant” guarantee after Tuesday’s Pick 5 was uncovered, resulting in a two-day carryover of $5,476,87.
Minimum wager for the Pick 5 (Races 11-15) is 50 cents. Since Pennsylvania law requires a minimum per-race wager of $2, a player wagering at the 50-cent level must bet at least four tickets.
First post for Wednesday’s program is 12:55 p.m.
