Kawartha Memorial Night Saturday
Officials with Kawartha Downs have announced that the track is honoured to have the opportunity to pay tribute to men and women that contributed greatly to harness racing in the Peterborough area for many years, but, sadly, are no longer with us.
This Saturday night the track will be hosting a memorial night with nine of the 10 races on the program named for these special people.
The track has announced that it is privileged to have the opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of Charles Touchburn, an original shareholder and paddock judge; well known and respected horsemen Stan Brown, Roger Hie, Guy LaRush and Ron Luke; talented farrier Tom Gratton, the first blacksmith at Kawartha Downs, and his wife Ann, sisters and avid harness racing followers; participants Doreen Brock and Leona Wright; and former Kawartha Downs’ Telephoto employee and caretaker Brenna Seeley, who was killed tragically in an auto accident at 24.
Family members will be on hand to congratulate the winners of the races named in their loved one’s honour.
First-race post time is 7 p.m.
