Blair Andrew Memorial On Tap

The two-year-old trotters will hit the track Thursday night in two divisions of the Blair Andrew Memorial at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.

First-race post time for the 13-dash card is 7 p.m.

The first division will line up for Race 2 with Suicide Shift favoured for driver Steven Shepherd and trainer Harold Shepherd, both of Stratford, who share ownership with Margo Fisher of New Brunswick. Suicide Shift has drawn Post 3 in the $8,000 event with his main rivals to his inside – JK Blaze (to be driven by Walter Cheverie) and Tyne Valley (Mike Stevenson). Also in the compact five-horse field is Ladyfoolinaround (Garth Cole) and Buddy The Elf (Henry Smallwood).

The other split has been carded as Race 4, which will feature six trotters vying for the top prize. Divisional leader Paymenowpaymelater will start from Post 5 and will be reunited with regular driver Kenny Arsenault as she searches for her ninth career win in as many starts. The undefeated Northern Bailey filly is owned by Wade Peconi of Stanchel and trained by Earl Watts. She may face her first true challenge Thursday night, as Windemere Ty (Jack Panting), who will start from Post 4, is riding a three-race win streak which includes a 2:04.3 victory in his latest outing. Other entries include Windemere Tribe (Darrell Neill), BJ Matador (Bert Honkoop), Dusty Lane Jacob (Corey MacPherson) and Skyanne (Paul Lanigan).

The $2,000 feature pace will head to the gate for Race 12. Early favourite IDK has drawn Post 2 for trainer Gary Poulton and owner Gail MacDonald of Charlottetown. The six-year-old Stand Forever gelding will get the services of Danny MacDonald in the bike, as regular pilot Vincent Poulton will drive his own horse, Tempo Seelster, from Post 3.

Other entries include Artners In Crime (Ron Matheson), Capitalism (Arsenault), Forever Paradise (Marc Campbell), Red Rock (Jason Hughes), McJestic (Cheverie) and Machinthesand (Gary Chappell).
