'Grey Ghosts' To Invade Pocono Downs
It’s that time of year again! Time for the “Grey Ghosts” to hit the track at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs for their annual “Grey Ghost and Poltergeist Pace” on Wednesday, October 29. The Race Office is looking for grey or roan horses to enter this spooky and extremely popular race.
The Race Office phone number is 570-831-2228.
This year’s race is sponsored by the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame in Goshen, New York, and they produced a promo, which set the stage for the eerie race. The promo can be seen below.
Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs is lending a hand to help raise money for the Greyhound Exhibit at the Museum, honouring the great trotter, by selling a collectible Greyhound wristband that evening.
The winning horse will be presented with his or her trophy by children in costume, and a scary and spooky decorated Winner’s Circle will set the mood for the race. There is even a Headless Horseman to lead the Post Parade!
The “Witching Hour,” otherwise known as post time, for the evening’s races is 6:30 p.m.
According to the U.S. Trotting Association, less than five percent of all harness horses are grey in colour. The most famous was the former world champion trotter and Hambletonian winner, Greyhound.
