Grismore Grabs Seven At Yonkers
The night before 'unlucky' Friday the 13th, Greg Grismore rolled a lucky seven winning that many dashes
at Yonkers Raceway.
Grismore had dashes in 11 races on Thursday evening, and he made money in each of those assignments.
Tied with Ryan Anderson for fourth with 35 victories at Yonkers Raceway, Grismore won the opener with public choice Corner Cruiser (1:59.4). After finishing fourth in the second race, Grismore swept the Pick-4 (Races 3-6) with Fivewillgetuten (1:57.3), Mutual Funs (1:59.3), Celebrity Phantom (1:59.2) and Duckies Delight (1:57.3).
Grismore sat out the seventh race, then wound up fifth in races 8 and 9. He found paydirt again in Race 10 thanks to a score with pocket sitting Sand Shania (1:57). He watched Race 11 from the sidelines, finished fourth in Race 12 and then completed his picture parade by winning Race 13 with Chester County (1:57), who extended her win streak to four-in-a-row.
"It's by far the best night I've had since moving east," Grismore said.
The Ohio expatriate matched the then-North American record of 10 wins in a single program in June of 2004 at Northfield Park.
"(Thursday) came at a good time," Grismore said. "I was in a bit of a slump. I drove a lot of good horses and it all just worked out. It was a fun night.”
The 38-year-old Grismore, fresh from the first two $5 million purse seasons of his career, has won more than 5,200 races in his career in addition to sitting behind the winners of purses in excess of $28 million.
