Classicality Upsets In Meadows Top Trot
Idling in seventh by six lengths at the half, Classicality brushed wide through the lane and scored a 10-1 upset in Wednesday’s $15,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life Trot at The Meadows.
Classicality’s position — third over and chasing Run And Tell Pap, who enjoyed a leisurely :58.1 half on the lead — appeared unenviable. But his cover was live enough to carry him to the stretch, and the four-year-old Classic Photo-Penn Worthy Lane gelding did the rest, roaring home for Brian Zendt in 1:54.3. Major Athens was second, half a length back, while Run And Tell Pap garnered a third-place cheque that lifted him over $500,000 in career earnings.
Lisa Dunn-Adams trains the homebred Classicality, who boosted his lifetime bankroll to $134,427, for Dunn Stable.
Six drivers — Eric Ledford, Jim Pantaleano, Dave Palone, Dick Stillings, Wilbur Yoder and Zendt — each drove a pair of winners on the 15-race card.
Live racing at The Meadows continues with a special Thursday card, first post 12:55 p.m.
