Reminder: Telmisartan Now Prohibited

On Tuesday, September 2, the Ontario Racing Commission issued a notice to the industry reminding everybody of the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency’s Memorandum to the Canadian racing industry and to Provincial Regulatory bodies advising that the drug telmisartan has been added to Schedule of Prohibited Drugs.

CPMA adds telmisartan to Schedule of Prohibited Drugs

On August 27, 2014, the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency (CPMA) released a Memorandum to the Canadian racing industry and to Provincial Regulatory bodies advising that this drug has been added to the Schedule of Prohibited Drugs (the release of the Memorandum also was noted on the Standardbred Canada website on August 29, 2014).

The Ontario Racing Commission (ORC) issues this Notice as a service. ORC licensees are expected to know the Rules of Racing, closely review all memos from the CPMA, and keep up to date on the Schedule of Prohibited Drugs.
