'Madonna' Rebounding From Injury
Darryl MacArthur, co-owner of Southwind Madonna, has stated that the 2008 O'Brien Award finalist is making the trek back from an injury suffered last August
.
“'Madonna' had a stress line in a pastern that presented itself after the final of last year’s Breeders Crown,” MacArthur recently told WEG announcer Ken Middleton, Jr. “She had close to four months in the stall and has been jogging since the end of January. She’s currently jogging up to five miles a day and is about two months away from qualifying.”
As for the upcoming season, Southwind Madonna's connections have made her eligible for some prestigious Canadian stakes and one of the most important south of the border.
“She’ll be staked to the Ellamony at Flamboro Downs, the Masters Series at Georgian Downs, the Roses are Red Stakes and the Milton Stakes at Mohawk, the Forest City Pace at Western Fair Raceway and the Breeders Crown at the Meadowlands,” MacArthur added.
