Celebrity Sulky Sitters
Harness racing trainers and drivers discuss the politicians, sports media personalities and celebrities they would like to see compete in a race at their local track in this week's Standardbred Canada video feature.
Many harness racing tracks have invited guests to participate in non-wagering races assisted by professional harness drivers to raise awareness of the sport and draw in new fans. Two of Canada's most popular sports broadcasting personalities, Kate Beirness and Darren Dutchyshen of TSN, recently sat behind a few Standardbreds as part of the Kraft Celebration Tour in Holland, Manitoba.
This past June, Grand River Raceway also hosted a race for local media personalities and the Meadowlands Racetrack held a race for legislators. And before his passing, Ralph Klein hosted CBC's Rick Mercer at Northlands Park for an impromptu match race.
Which individual from outside harness racing would you like to see compete in an exhibition race?
