Productive Night For Plante
Driver J.R. Plante started off his Sunday evening at Flamboro Downs on the right foot thanks to a win in the opener with Bellas RBK (1:59.1), and boy did he finish the
12-race card with a bang!
Plante won the final four races on the Sunday program at Canada’s fastest half-miler, and that was enough to push nightly win total to five and his yearly win total to 58.
The resident of Burlington, ON clicked with Suntan Place (1:58) in the ninth race to complete the driving double, but he was far from through when it came to winning races.
He swept the next three races, as well, thus completing the natural Grand Slam and a five-win performance overall.
Titan Park (1:59.1) was head and shoulders the best in the tenth race for Plante, who also scored with Match Bayama (1:56.4) in Race 11 and his own mare, Zacs Princess (2:02.2), in Race 12.
Plante enjoyed a career year in 2008 by winning 246 races and guiding home the winners of purse earnings in excess of $1.5 million. There’s a good chance you’ll see the young reinsman surpass both of those totals by the time the end of the 2009 campaign rolls around.
