Lifetime Pursuit Headlines Casual Breeze
Eighteen of harness racing’s leading ladies are scheduled to assemble Friday evening at Mohawk Racetrack in a rich set of divisions of the Casual Breeze Stakes.
The event, which in previous years was a lead-up to the Elegantimage Stake, features two $101,296 divisions which will be carded as Races 7 and 9.
Headlining the event is this year’s Hambletonian Oaks winner, Lifetime Pursuit. The three-year-old trotting daughter of Cantab Hall-Queen Of Grace enters the Friday evening assignment following a 1:51.3 world record-setting performance in a PASS event at The Meadows on August 12. Jimmy Takter trains the 10-time winner and Yannick Gingras will handle career winner of $516,672 from Post 7.
The Hambletonian Oaks runner-up, Designed To Be, has drawn Post 4 in that second division for trainer Julie Miller, while Muscle Babe, a multiple OSS winner and the Ontario SBOA champ, has landed Post 2 for conditioner Dave Menary.
The big bread winner in the opening division is the multiple stakes winner, White Becomes Her. The three-year-old daughter of Angus Hall-Pursuing Keagan has yet to miss the board this season in 10 tries. She’s won multiple OSS Gold Series divisions in addition to capturing this year’s Canadian Breeders Championship for driver Mario Baillargeon and trainer Ben Baillargeon. She’ll start from Post 2 in her quest to add to this year’s $200,000 bankroll for owner Vince Mastrangelo of Brampton, Ontario.
A number of stakes winners stand in her way, however, including O’Brien Award winner Riveting Rosie (Post 4), Duenna and Arden Downs winner Donatella Hanover (Post 6) and OSS Gold Series winner Sweetie Hearts (Post 9).
Post time for Friday’s 12-race card at Mohawk Racetrack is 7:25 p.m.
