Record Set In Britain

It has been reported that pacer Stoneriggs Mystery is the new British record holder on a half-mile track, courtesy of a seven-length, 1:55.7 win at York on June 14.

Stoneriggs Mystery, who was driven by Mick Lord in the record mile, is bred in the purple, by the Australian-based sire Village Jasper p,3,1:51s $1,057,595 out of the notable British-bred mare Stoneriggs Quality p,8,1:54.3h $53,409. The second dam of Stoneriggs Mystery is the highly successful Monkroyd Mystery, who many will remember as the iron race mare of the mid to late 1980s. For the pedigree enthusiast, this shows a balanced 4X4 cross to Most Happy Fella p, 3, T1:55m winner of the 1970 Little Brown Jug, and sire of Cam Fella p, 4, 1:53.1 who was one of the greatest producing sires in North American harness racing.

As we approach the fourth generation on the extended pedigree of Stoneriggs Mystery, his dam’s bottom line goes into British bloodlines, however, these sires and dams would almost certainly have contained American imported blood. Research is ongoing.

Many congratulations to his breeders Mr. Arthur and Mrs. Evelyn Slack of Stoneriggs Stud, his owner Mr. David Morton Sr., and all his racing connections.
