State Fair Racing To Return To Scioto
Ohio State Fair races for two and three-year-olds in their respective divisions will be contested on Friday (August 1) and Saturday (August 2).
First-race post time for both cards is 6:30 p.m.
Friday’s 13-race card will shine the spotlight on the Ohio-bred two-year-olds for each gait and sex. The freshmen will perform during nine of the races on the card.
Highlighting their divisions will be the undefeated two-year colt pacer Gray Camo, who is trained by Ron Burke; the two-year filly trotter Sunrise Nibbles, who is conditioned by Christ Beaver; and the two-year old filly pacer Bell Flower, who will be racing for her new conditioner, Jim Arledge Jr.
Saturday’s 14-race program will feature three-year-old fillies and colts of both gaits. The three-year-olds will comprise six races on the card. Trotting superstar Rompaway Galaxy will start from Post 8 on Saturday with driver Mike Micallef. The gelding has been named is the 6-5 morning line favourite for his race.
Scioto will also be holding a driver autograph session on Friday. Drivers will be in the grandstand from 5:45 p.m. until 6:20 p.m. On Saturday, Scioto will be giving away free cups with the purchase of a live racing program. Carnival games for the kids will also be set up on the grandstand apron on Saturday. The proceeds will benefit The Mid-Ohio Food Bank.
