It has been reported that the New Hampshire House yesterday overwhelmingly defeated a pair of bills that would have allowed video lottery terminals in the states.

The Eagle Tribune has reported that House Bill 593, sponsored by Rep. Frank Emiro, R-Londonderry, would have allowed the state to distribute licenses for privately run resort casinos. That bill was rejected by the House, 295-72.

The House also voted down HB 461, a bill sponsored by Rep. Anthony DiFruscia, D-Salem, that would have authorized construction of a state-owned casino operation. That bill failed, 334-35.

Millennium Gaming, a company that holds an option to buy Rockingham Park, estimates expanded gambling at the park would bring in $158 million in revenue for the state in its first year of operation, and $190 million for the state in future years, according to Bill Wortman, co-owner of the company.
