Margarita Bi Headlines Top Trot
Hippodrome 3R track record holder Margarita Bi will headline the track’s featured trotting event (Race 9) on Tuesday, July 29. The five-year-old mare will be looking to record her sixth win of the year.
Trained by Tiffany Staley for driver/owner Denis St Pierre, Margarita Bi loves racing at the Hippodrome 3R and has not lost at the track the entire season. The daughter of Andover Hall – who is out of the Valley Victory mare Avona Bessi – trotted Hippodrome 3R’s fastest mile ever by a mare on June 14. The 1:57.2 victory was also a new lifetime mark for the lass.
On Tuesday, Margarita Bi will start from Post 6 against eight rivals, three of which are also mares. Margarita Bi, who is the 5-2 morning line favourite, has won four of her last six starts.
Her main competition will come from Bel Gazou (Post 2). Bel Gazou , the oldest competitor in the field at age 10, finished second in his last start despite being parked out first-over for the mile race. Bel Gazou has two wins this year from five starts for his driver/trainer, Martin Gingras.
Other starters in the race are Beer Maggs (Post 1), Erge Baboche (Post 3) and Caroluzzo (Post 5).
