Swapped Horse To Contest Final
If a fellow racing participant asked you to trade one of your horses, straight up, would you do it? Jamie Ramsay did just that. This Saturday he will be gunning for a series title with his charge.
As Ryan Cooke explains in an article for the Truro Daily News, Ramsey traded one of his pupils, Hutchinson Hanover, to fellow horseman Steve Morton for Lifeinthecountry.
The report explains that within a month of the swap, Ramsey got the then-winless daughter of N Xample to the winner’s circle. The distaffer’s maiden-breaking performance was a four-length victory on August 4, 2013 over Truro’s half-mile course. The lass got the job done that day after having been sent off at post-time odds of 15-1.
Lifeinthecountry has drawn Post 7 for Saturday’s $6,250 final of the Harris Home Hardware Series at Truro Raceway. The final has been carded as Race 10 on the 12-dash program which will get underway at 6:30 p.m. The seven other entrants in Saturday’s final are males. ‘Country’ will have to put her best hoof forward if she wants to defeat the boys from her outer starting spot.
“She could probably run underneath some of the horses she’s up against out there,” Ramsey was quoted as saying. “She’s just a small horse, but she’s got an attitude.”
