Who Doesnt Lowers Lacombe Record
He's been closing in on the Alberta Downs track record the last few weeks and on Sunday afternoon Who Doesnt became the first older pacer to score a sub-1:51 victory at the one-mile Lacombe oval.
Who Doesnt went wire-to-wire to win the $8,000 Open Pace in 1:50.4, lowering the aged pacing record by one-fifth of a second. KG Art Dreamer set the former 1:51 record for older pacers last year, which was matched by Who Doesnt on June 27 following a 1:51.1 winning effort by the five-year-old pacer on June 8.
Who Doesnt was handicapped with the outside post position in a six-horse field for this week's Open, but quickly assumed command and led the way past the quarter in :26.3, half-mile mark in :55.2 and three-quarters in 1:22.3 before extending his leading margin to six and a half lengths down the stretch for the new speed badge. Blue Star Admiral and Brandon Campbell finished second while the winner's stablemate, Playbook, finished third with Paul Davies aboard.
The Mach Three-Labor Of Love gelding earned his fourth straight win and seventh in 14 seasonal starts. Trainer/driver Travis Cullen shares ownership of Who Doesnt with Jeanne, Kenneth and Jodie Cullen of Glenboro, MB.
Who Doesnt's blistering mile was just two-fifths of a second off the all-age track record, which was set by Clintons Escape as a three-year-old in 2010.
