Histoire Eternelle Headlines 3R Card Sun.
After his impressive track record tying victory last week at the Hippodrome 3R, can Histoire Eternelle make it four straight wins on Sunday?
Histoire Eternelle posted a six length romp in 1:54.2 over the 3R lightning fast half-mile track last week and it was not only a personal lifetime record for the five-year-old, but his clocking tied the track record for older pacing stallions that is now co-held with Cliff Drummond, who set the mark in 2013.
Leading from start to finish, Histoire Eternelle and driver Marie Claude Auger posted their fourth victory in eight starts this year as the son of Shanghai Phil continued his winning ways for trainer Eric Valiquette and owner/breeder Guy Corbeil of Mirabel, Que. Histoire Eternelle is the 5-2 morning line favourite and starts from post seven in the eighth race feature event on Sunday.
His main competition will come from the entry of SOS Grappa and Walbert from the Marc Andre Simoneau stable. Last week, SOS Grappa was also an impressive winner. Other contenders include Cevina De Chakrika (post four) and Jolts Prayer (post two).
On the trotting side, Maximuscle goes for his third straight win in the seventh race. The Quebec Sire Stakes champion last year is off to a winning season at age three. He is also trained by Valiquette and won $45,724 in 2013 for breeder/owner Ecurie Provoquante of Mirabel, Que. Maximuscle starts from post eight.
It will not be a walk in the park for Maximuscle as he faces a strong challenge from another return winner in Beer Maggs in post nine. In her last start, Beer Maggs was able to lead from start to finish in 1:59.2 for trainer/driver Kevin Maguire. Another contender in the field is Bel Gazou (post four), who has won two of his last three starts at Hippodrome 3R.
Post time Sunday is 1 p.m.
