Hippodrome 3R’s Tuesday Night Preview
Last week at the Hippodrome 3R, Show Busness put on a really big show as part of the Quebec Eastern Regional Driving Championship as she nearly blew up the tote board when she upset the field at odds of 97-1.
The nine-year-old mare by Mach Three was driven for the first time by Sylvain Lacaille and he responded by being able to sneak up the passing lane as the rest of the field fanned wide for the stretch finish. He went on to post a three-quarter-length triumph in 1:58.3.
It was a lifetime mark for Show Busness as she paid $197.40 to Win for trainer and regular driver Andre Champagne. Show Busness is owned by Jean Barrette of Trois-Riviere, QC.
The major obstacle in tonight’s race for Show Busness (Race 9) is her starting position, the far outside Post 9. She was able to overcome Post 8 last week when she scored her first win of the season from what was her fourth seasonal start. Show Busness is listed at odds of 6-1 for tonight’s test, a far cry from her post-time odds last week (97-1). Show Business is one of only three females in the race against six male rivals.
The second choice in the race, at odds of 5-2, is the three-year-old filly Thrill Chaser, from Post 2 for driver/trainer/co-owner Marie Claude Auger. Third choice is Did It Again from Post 8 for driver Francis Picard. A strong leaver in his last two starts, Did It Again was able to wire a 3R field on June 10 and won by one and a quarter lengths in 1:58.3.
First-race post time on Tuesday is 7 p.m.
