MacDonald Nabs 1,000th Win

A three-win performance during Sunday evening’s 11-race card at Georgian Downs propelled driver James MacDonald into harness racing’s 1,000-wins club.

MacDonald made his first trip of the evening to the winner’s circle in Race 6 with Windshield (1:57.3), and he returned to victory lane in Race 8 with Captain Webber N (1:55.2). Sitting at 999 wins going into Race 10, MacDonald then clicked with Brocks Fortune (1:52.1) to achieve the milestone win.

The resident of Guelph, Ontario has already racked up 167 wins this season after compiling 178 victories in 2013. He’s in the midst of his fourth consecutive season of banking in excess of $1 million in purse earnings, and at the rate he’s going he’ll have no problem surpassing the $2 million mark for just the second time in his career. He’s less than three-quarters of a million dollars away from surpassing the $10 million plateau in lifetime earnings.
