Record Mile For Unefoisdansmavie
For the second consecutive week, the track record for older trotting mares was re-established at Hoosier Park in the $17,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred Trot.
Prior to last week’s 1:54 performance, the track record for older trotting mares was a record that stood at 1:54.3 for 13 years.
Unefoisdansmavie, with Ricky Macomber at the lines, matched the track record for older trotting mares with a 1:53.2 performance in the featured event of the evening on Thursday at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino. Staging a big rally late in the lane, Unefoisdansmavie was able to track down Lady Blitz and Verlin Yoder, who established a new track record with a 1:54 score last week. The 1:53.2 victory marks a seasonal best record for the seven-year-old mare and the second track record that has been lowered over Hoosier Park’s seven-eighths mile oval in 2014.
Leaving from post four in the abbreviated field of seven, Unefoisdansmavie left alertly to get position from post four and reached the front through an opening panel in :27.3. Her lead would be short lived as Lady Blitz used her customary front-running tactics and took over at the second station in :56.2. Unefoisdansmavie was content to sit in the pocket while Easter Teka and Peter Wrenn followed intently in third.
Lady Blitz, looking strong on the front, continued to call the shots around the three-quarter clocking in 1:25.2 but Walked Into Heaven and Trace Tetrick began to apply pressure to their outside. As the field turned for home, Macomber gave Unefoisdansmavie the green light from the pocket and she used a :27.4 final panel to finish a length in front of the field. Lady Blitz finished a game second while Easter Teka trotted evenly for third. As the publics’ second choice, Unefoisdansmavie returned $4.80 to win.
Trained by Hoosier Park’s leading conditioner, Ron Burke, Unefoisdansmavie notched her 28th win from 93 lifetime outings. Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Jack Piatt III own the six-year-old daughter of Revenue S-Peace To The World who now boasts $433,942 in career earnings.
