ORC Rules On Johnson Appeals
The Ontario Racing Commission has released two Notices of Decision in regarding to appeals by trainer Colin Johnson.
In its first Notice of Decision, the ORC allowed Johnson’s appeal in part, against a penalty which had been handed down by the commission. The ORC ruled that, based upon the evidence and the circumstances, that the result would be a $2,000 fine, no suspension, and upon reinstatement, two years of probation upon the conditions set out in Standardbred Official Ruling SB 44076, dated January 15, 2014.
In its second Notice of Decision, the ORC ruled that it denied an application for a stay of an immediate suspension, without prejudice to subsequent applications based upon a change in circumstances. Also, the notice states that an upcoming hearing on some of the matters will be heard on Thursday, July 3 at 10 a.m., and if necessary, will continue on Friday, July 4 at 10 a.m. Also, no mandatory time requirements limits were imposed on disclosure.
Additionally, the ORC issued a notice on Thursday, June 12 indicating that the second Notice of Decision has been amended.
