Post 2 For California Chrome In Belmont
Three-year-old California Chrome will face 10 other rivals this Saturday (June 7) in the Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park in New York and will be looking to become the first runner since Affirmed in 1978 to win the Thoroughbred Triple Crown.
California Chrome will break from Post 2 in the 11-horse field. He has been installed as the 3-5 morning line favourite. Post time for the Belmont Stakes is 6:52 p.m.
The Art Sherman-trained and Victor Espinoza-ridden son of Lucky Pulpit won the Kentucky Derby on May 3, as he covered the 1-1/4-mile event in 2:03.66. He continued his Triple Crown quest on May 17 at Pimlico Race Course by capturing the 1-3/16-mile Preakness Stakes in 1:54.84.
